Seniors for Seniors
We have seniors for seniors. These are our senior dogs that need a home to live out their lives. We have them in long term foster care, but
would love to see them have a home of their own. Most of them have many good years left, are just a little slower and less demanding than
the younger dogs. If you think you can give one of our seniors a home, please fill out the application and submit your information. Some
have lived a long, sad life and only want to be loved. Will it be by you???
ONE BY ONE

One by One, they pass by my cage,
Too old, too worn, too broken, no way.
Way past his time, he can't run and play.

Then they shake their heads slowly and go on their way.
A little old dog, arthritic and sore,
It seems I am not wanted anymore.

I once had a home, I once had a bed,
A place that was warm, and where I was fed.
Now my muzzle is gray, and my eyes slowly fail.
Who wants a dog so old and so frail?

My family decided I didn't belong,
I got in their way, my attitude was wrong.
Whatever excuse they made in their head,
Can't justify how they left me for dead.
Seniors for Seniors Program

If you are a senior citizen who wants a dog, these seniors need homes.
They are all in foster homes, but would love a forever home. Will it be yours?

These dogs are also available to qualified seniors for our forever foster program.
Please ask if you are interested in that.

River is a 10-11 year old Black/tan cocker spaniel who is
blind due to improper care and cataracts. He is a sweet,
sweet dog and loves attention. He gets around very well as
soon as he learns the layout of his surroundings. He loves
his foster home and especially "his" little girl, Jazzy. Hubbards
Hounds pulled River to save him from death, and "was"
placed in a "special needs" forever-foster home.
Do you have room in your heart and home for one of our senior dogs?
It is a proven fact that a pet can help to lower blood pressure!
Now I sit in this cage, where day after day,
The younger dogs get adopted away.
When I had almost come to the end of my rope,
You saw my face, and I finally had hope.
You saw thru the gray, and the legs bent with age,
And felt I still had life beyond this cage.

You took me home, gave me food and a bed,
And shared your own pillow with my poor tired head.
We snuggle and play, and you talk to me low,
You love me so dearly, you want me to know.
I may have lived most of my life with another,
But you outshine them with a love so much stronger.
And I promise to return all the love I can give,
To you, my dear person, as long as I live.
I may be with you for a week, or for years,
We will share many smiles, you will no doubt shed tears.
And when the time comes that God deems I must leave,
I know you will cry and your heart, it will grieve.
And when I arrive at the Bridge, all brand new,
My thoughts and my heart will still be with you.
And I will brag to all who will hear,
Of the person who made my last days so dear.
Miss Bea is such a sweet old girl! From what we
know, she appears to have been dumped, and
by all appearances, after being used as a
breeding dogs for many years. She has clearly
had many litters in her time! She LOVES to
snuggle with her person and watch a little TV.
She’s not particular at all about what you watch
as long as she can have her head on your lap!
She gets a bit jealous of other dogs, but nothing
serious…could be an only dog, but would be ok
with perhaps one other canine companion. She
is an older girl and is not quite up for rough play
but if you are looking for a devoted and loving
companion to curl up next to you, Miss Bea is
your girl.
