Havoc Needs a Hero

Please help us find Havoc a home!

Havoc is a 3 yr old lab mix who had a rough start in life. He survived two life-threatening situations (parvo and a later intestinal blockage that required open abdominal sugery) before he was even 6 months old! Being in a vet hospital for all those months meant he missed out on prime socialization time when he would have otherwise developed the confidence you’d expect from this handsome 80-lb lovebug. This means he can be extremely anxious in new situations (whether meeting people, going to new places, seeing other animals, etc.) and he does not do well when left alone.

That said, Havoc has thrived in a great foster home for the past couple years where they’ve patiently worked on managing his isolation distress and other anxieties. He trusts his human mom & dad and older canine sister and is just a big, happy goofball 95% of the time. They are even able to crate him while they’re away for a few hours at a time. Unfortunately, his comfortable foster home situation is about to become very scary for him due to the impending arrival of a new tiny human (babies and young children make Havoc VERY anxious.)

For Havoc’s well-being (and baby safety, of course) he needs to find a new home situation, and unfortunately all the foster homes in his current rescue are full. Another stable foster would work, but a forever home would be even better. He needs a home without children or small animals and very patient human(s) who have experience working with anxious or troubled dogs. Havoc has shown signs of fear aggression (dog and human) in a couple of situations and, because of his size, will need a confident and experienced foster/owner.

Havoc loves toys, chasing (and chewing/destroying) balls, walks beautifully on a leash (his foster mom uses a short leash and prong collar to help keep him focused on her during walks) would be a great running/hiking companion, and basically loves to just “hang out” at home. He adores going on road trips, rides wonderfully in cars & trucks, and he especially enjoys RV adventures. Havoc does very well with the dog in his foster home (a senior female) and, when slowly introduced in order to form a trusting relationship, has done well with multiple other large dogs as well.

Please help us find Havoc a new home where he can feel secure enough to share all the love he has to give. His current rescue and foster parents (based in Central NY) are willing to do whatever it takes to keep him safe and would consider helping with training costs, etc. to make sure he finds the right person/home where he can be successful and happy, like he deserves. Contact us through Facebook or at admin@hubbardshounds.com for more information, and please share this page–thank you!

Maggie will be available soon!

Maggie is another hound mix that came to us in horrible shape. Lived outside her whole life with little care or food. She is the sweetest gal and very calm. She wants nothing more than to snuggle on the couch with you! She loves people which always amazes me when they are treated so badly by previous owners! She hasn’t had one accident in the house so is doing great on the potty training. She doesn’t mind the other dogs, but also doesn’t really interact, mostly stays to herself and snuggles. We are estimating her at about 3, but she could be older, it is hard to know. She is spayed, up to date with shots, microchipped and will be available in about 6-8 weeks after she is treated for HW disease.

Adopted-Anne the sweet hound!

Anne is a young hound mix who came to us in awful shape. She was so starved and sad. She is a happy girl now who we estimate to be about 6 months, but she coud be older. She is almost house trained, has had a few accidents, but never lived in a house before so that is expected. She does go out and is getting it. She loves to play with her foster brother and didn’t have any reaction to the neighbors cat. She seems to love all people. Physically, she has put on weight and is at a good weight now. She was just spayed, has all her shots, is HW negative and microchipped, she is ready to go! If you are interested in this sweetie, go to www.hubbardshounds.com and submit an application. NO PHONE CALLS. Adoption donation is $300.

Reinee and Ivy Found Their Forever Home!

Sue adopted both Reinee and Ivy earlier this week.

Sue is a previous adopter of Hubbard Hounds. She adopted Brittany from me in 2016 and just adopted Fina.

Brittany is a senior and lost her buddy Marty last month. She was lonely so Sue wanted a buddy for her. Reinee and Ivy are the best as these 3 were buddies before Brittany was adopted.

Sue said that they have bonded already, just like no time has past, and we are very happy for all of them.

Konner is the biggest of the pups. He is more confident and was the leader of his brothers. He is friendly to people of all ages, cats, and other dogs. He is estimated to be between 7-10 months old. His  foster is working on feeding them more often so they aren’t as hungry and don’t eat quite so fast, but they were starved so it is a work in process. They do well with other dogs and do like to play, but are not wild hyper. They are doing well with potty training as long as it is consistent. If you are interested in Konner or his brother Kaden, go to www.hubbardshounds.com and submit an application. Adoption donation is $300 and both boys are fully vetted.

Hey there! My name is Piper and I am approx 6 months old and weigh approx 25 lbs. My foster mom is trying to figure what kind of mix I am but thinks I might possibly be a shepherd lab mix or maybe red heeler. I am a typical puppy with lots of energy and I just love to play with toys, my foster fursister or my foster family. So many choices! I love to be cuddled when I take a 5 second rest. I am not yet housebroken but I am a very smart pup and I am learning. I will be vaccinated, spayed and chipped very soon and then will be available for adoption.

Darla is available for adoption!

Darla went to the vet today and did wonderful. She is happy and affectionate, even gave the Dr. a big kiss! She is a big girl at about 77 lbs, but is not fat at all. She is, we believe, a lab/aussie mix. She is a bit nervous, but has come a long way. She is completely house trained and never soils in her area! She met a puppy today while on leash and did excellent, but I was told she is not good with other dogs. I don’t know about cats, but she likes kids. She will need a home with a fenced yard and an active family. She will also need time to adjust, it will not be an overnight adjustment and if you are interested in adopting her, please realize it may take a few weeks for her to be completely comfortable with you. I had all her shots updated and she was tested for HW, lyme, ehrlichia and anaplasma. She is lyme positive, but has no clinical signs at all. She did get her first lyme vaccine today and will have another in 30 days. If interested in Darla, go to www.hubbardshounds.com and apply. Please be sure you are willing to give her the time she needs. She is about 3-4 years old.
