Adoption Process:

1.  The first step is to copy and paste the application located on the next page into your email and email the filled out application to: susan@hubbardshounds.com. When we get to your application in the processing phase, you will receive an email telling you the donation amount for the dog you are interested in. That way, if you want us to proceed, we will, if not, we haven't wasted valuable time. It may be up to 2 weeks before you hear from us.

2.  Since we are not a shelter and our dogs are in different foster homes located in many different places, we do not arrange meetings with the dogs until your application has been approved.

3. We require that you fill the application out completely or it will not be considered. It is important to us to place our dogs with the right family depending on their personality and yours.

4. Our adoption donations depend on the dog. The younger the dog, the higher the donation for him/her. Donation fees range from $50 to $400 and are tax deductible. All donations, 100% are used to care for the dogs. All administrative fees are paid by our very loyal volunteers. We are a non profit corporation and are in the process of getting our 501(c)(3) as a charity. We are totally dependent on donations, we get no government subsidies to help with vetting or any other costs.  All dogs that are adopted from us that are old enough will be altered and up to date on shots. If a puppy is too young, they will be adopted on a strict spay/neuter contract, but will have all shots they are old enough to have.

5. Many times we get a lot of applications for one dog so we don't always get to every application. We are all volunteers and do the best we can to get to all applications, but sometimes we find the perfect match before we can check them all.

6. We would really appreciate it if you do apply to adopt and then end up getting a dog elsewhere if you just drop us an email to let us know. That way we won't be checking references and wasting time when you already have a dog. It just allows us to process other applicants that are still interested. It is sometimes 2-3 weeks before we get to a certain dog to process the applications. There are only 2 of us that process so please be understanding.

 What We Do

We rescue dogs in danger, some that are abused, some that have been turned in by their owners and others that are in danger of being euthanized because they are strays or unwanted. We also take dogs that puppy mills give up because they can't produce or have gotten too old and are going to be killed. We do our best to rehome the dogs we take in by placing them in foster homes and working with them to rehabilitate so they can be adopted. For more information on puppy mills, go to the following website: www.puppymillrescue.com, it will shock you!

Foster Homes Needed

We are in need of foster homes in the Homer/Cortland and beyond areas. If you are interested in becoming a foster parent, please go to the FOSTERING page and submit an application. We will check all references and then schedule a home visit to come talk to you about fostering. Fostering is a commitment that needs to be taken seriously. We need foster homes to be able to continue taking and placing dogs. The more foster homes, the more dogs we can save and place.

Thanks again to all of you who are helping in any way, for wanting to help dogs learn how to be loved! Our volunteers are priceless and we wouldn't be so successful with out them. So a big thank you to our foster parents and their families: Anna, Kim T, Laurie, Allison, Sue, Kim P, Stacie, and Julia. Julia not only fosters several for us, but she helps transport them and checks references for us so THANX Julia!  A big thank you to our transporter Peter, and the Florida crew Pam, Viv and Tom, and Linda J.
