your help with donations of the items listed below. If you have

cleaning! If you find something to donate, that's in good working
condition, please email kim@hubbardshounds.com

CUTE VIDEO from DogWork.com
1. My life is likely to last 10-15 years. Any separation from you is likely to be painful.
2. Give me time to understand what you want of me.
3. Place your trust in me. It is crucial for my well-being.
4. Don't be angry with me for long and don't lock me up as punishment. You have
your work, your friends, your entertainment, but I have only you.
5. Talk to me. Even if I don't understand your words, I do understand your voice
when speaking to me.
6. Be aware that however you treat me, I will never forget it.
7. Before you hit me, before you strike me, remember that I could hurt you, and yet,
I choose not to bite you.
A Pets 10 Commandments!
8. Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I'm not getting
the right food, I have been in the sun too long, or my heart might be getting old or weak.
9. Please take care of me when I grow old. You too, will grow old.
10. On the ultimate difficult journey, go with me please. Never say you can't bear to watch. Don't make me face this alone.
Everything is easier for me if you are there, because I love you so. ALWAYS!

Her eyes met mine as she walked down the corridor peering
apprehensively into the kennels. I felt her need instantly and knew I
had to help her.
I wagged my tail, not too exuberantly, so she wouldn’t be afraid. As
she stopped at my kennel I blocked her view from a little accident I
had in the back of my cage. I didn’t want her to know that I hadn’t
been walked today. Sometimes the overworked shelter keepers get
too busy and I didn’t want her to think poorly of them.
As she read my kennel card I hoped that she wouldn’t feel sad
about my past. I only have the future to look forward to and want to
make a difference in someone’s life.
She got down on her knees and made little kissy sounds at me. I
shoved my shoulder and side of my head up against the bars to
comfort her. Gentle fingertips caressed my neck; she was
desperate for companionship. A tear fell down her cheek and I
raised my paw to assure her that all would be well.
Soon my kennel door opened and her smile was so bright that I
instantly jumped into her arms.
I would promise to keep her safe.
I would promise to always be by her side.
I would promise to do everything I could to see that radiant smile
and sparkle in her eyes.
I was so fortunate that she came down my corridor. So many more
are out there who haven’t walked the corridors. So many more to be
saved. At least I could save one.

I RESCUED A HUMAN TODAY by Janine Allen

I am your dog, and I have a little something I’d like to whisper in
your ear. I know that you humans lead busy lives. Some have to
work, some have children to raise. It always seems like you are
running here and there, often much too fast , often never noticing
the truly grand things in life. Look down at me now, while you sit
there at your computer. See the way my dark brown eyes look at
yours? They are slightly cloudy now. That comes with age. The
gray hairs are beginning to ring my soft muzzle. You smile at me; I
see love in your eyes. What do you see ...in mine? Do you see a
spirit? A soul inside, who loves you as no other could in the
world? A spirit that would forgive all trespasses of prior wrong
doing for just a simple moment of your time? That is all I ask. To
slow down, even for a few minutes to be with me.
So many times you have been saddened by the words you read
on that screen, of other of my kind, passing. Sometimes we die
young and oh so quickly, sometimes so suddenly it wrenches
your heart out of your chest. Sometimes, we age so slowly before
your eyes that you may not even seem to know until the very end,
when we look at you with grizzled muzzles and cataract clouded
eyes. Still the love is always there, even when we must take that
long sleep, to run free in a distant land. I may not be here
tomorrow; I may not be here next week. Someday you will shed
the water from your eyes that humans have when deep grief fills
their souls, and you will be angry at yourself that you did not have
just “one more day” with me.

Fun Stuff
I AM YOUR DOG Author Unknown
Because I love you so, your sorrow touches my spirit and grieves me.
We have NOW, together. So come, sit down here next to me on the
floor, and look deep into my eyes. What do you see? If you look hard
and deep enough we will talk, you and I, heart to heart. Come to me not
as “alpha” or as “trainer” or even as “Mom or Dad,” come to me as a
living soul and stroke my fur and let us look deep into one another’s
eyes, and talk. I may tell you something about the fun of chasing a
tennis ball, or I may tell you something profound about myself, or even
life in general.
You decided to have me in your life because you wanted a soul to
share such things with, someone very different from you. And here I
am. I am a dog, but I am alive. I feel emotion, I feel physical senses,
and I can revel in the differences of our spirits and souls. I do not think
of you as a “Dog on two feet” – I know what you are. You are human, in
all your quirkiness, and I love you still.
Now, come sit with me on the floor. Enter my world, and let time slow
down if only for 15 minutes. Look deep into my eyes, and whisper into
my ears. Speak with your heart, with your joy and I will know your true
self. We may not have tomorrow, and life is oh so very short.
Love,
Your Dog

Here's some videos of some of our very own Hubbard's Hounds DOGS who found their fur-ever homes!
If these don't put a smile on your face... nothing will! Click on images to view!
Go, go, Ace!
Ace was being fostered by one of our foster families, but
almost immediately adopted by them. They say "It was
LOVE at first sniff." Can you tell how happy he is!
Princess Silvia
Miss Silvia is one of the 'lucky' puppy mill survivors, who was rescued
and found her fur-ever home. Not only did she find a home, but she
found one where she is treated as the queen of the house and
endlessly pampered... just as a princess should be. Her brother Eddie
(another Hubbard's Hounds rescue dog), makes a surprise
appearance towards the end.

MOVING? Looking for a "Pet Friendly" Apartment?
Katie Reardon, a pet owner herself, found it difficult when searching for an apartment that would take her and her two dogs. She saw a
need and filled it, by creating a housing-search website that offered "pet friendly" homes. She's hoping it will help other pet owners find a
home quick and easy. If you're considering a move, please use her website, so that you can take the WHOLE family with you when you go!

The Meaning of Rescue~
Now that I'm home, bathed, settled and fed, all nicely tucked in my warm new bed. I'd like to open my baggage, lest I forget, there is so much
to carry - so much to regret.
Hmmm...Yes, there it is, right on the top, let's unpack loneliness, heartache and loss.
...And there by my perch hides fear and shame. As I look on these things I tried so hard to leave - I still have to unpack my baggage called
pain.
I loved them, the others, the ones who left me, but I wasn't good enough - for they didn't want me. Will you add to my baggage? Will you help
me unpack? Or will you just look at my things - and take me right back.
Do you have the time to help me unpack? To help put away my baggage, to never repack? I pray that you do - I'm so tired you see, but I do
come with baggage - Will you still want me?
