PETUNIA
Hi there dog lover,

My name is Petunia but my friends call me Tuni. I
am a young adult Beagle/Doxie mix. The Hubbard’s
gang rescued me from a high kill shelter …THANK
GOODNESS! Then a wonderful foster family
entertained me for several months until my Furever
Mom adopted me! I often hear humans say I am
such a sweetie, probably because I love to give
everyone kisses!

Anyway, I must admit, it was not all fresh water &
biscuits at first…it took me some time to learn to
potty on a leash. I don’t think I had been leash
walked or taken to a park much, but after a lot of
practice, I got it. Now sometimes I pretend I need to
use the bathroom, just so I can walk around the
neighborhood and stop to see some of my new
friends! I’ve made so many since moving to my new
home, canine and human. I get invited to play in
fenced areas with my canine buddies and even get
invited to human parties! Get this, I’ve been invited
places even when my mom can’t make it! I don’t like
to miss the excitement, so I’m pondering a method
for solo travel, but haven’t figured it out yet. I also had
separation anxiety… ok I still have a little bit but I’ve
been working on that too. It has subsided a great
deal.

So with those things under my collar, after a few
months it was time for me to attend obedience
school. School? That’s what mom calls it, I’d call it
social hour for dogs! Well, first the teacher thought
perhaps I was learning disabled (I am a
independent breed). School was very difficult for the
first few weeks, but I did my homework (almost)
every day because I wanted to do my best! So seven
weeks later I graduated. And guess what…. We had
to compete in challenges, and I won 2 out of 5! Not
only were my mom & teachers proud, but I was
proud of myself too!
I want to thank you all for saving me, caring for me, and helping me find my furever home! Life is grand!!!

And to anyone thinking about adopting, if possible, please consider an adult dog! I know first paw, we
can be just as loving, sweet and wonderful companions as those cute pups but it is much more difficult
for us to find furever homes!

Lovin life & dog kisses to all,  Tuni
A POEM FROM PETUNIA 2/2011:
WITH LOVE TO MY RESCUERS

I LOVE MY DAILY WALKS,
HOPING FOR A CREATURE TO STALK
I WATCH FOR A STRANGER TO MEET,
OR MAYBE A BUDDY FROM THE STREET.

I LOVE MY TOYS AND TREATS,
AND ON COLD NIGHTS, THOSE FLANNEL SHEETS

A FEW YEARS AGO I HAD A DREAM,
WHICH CAME TRUE...
NOW I CELEBRATE SPECIAL EVENTS
WITH VANILLA ICE CREAM

I LOVE TO PLAY MONSTER AND TUG-O-WAR,
AND GUESS WHAT..
I’M NOT AFRAID OF MEN ANYMORE

MY MOST FAVORITE THING EVER….A TUMMY RUB
BUT PLEASE KEEP ME OUT THE BATH TUB!

WHEN MY MOM COMES HOME FEELING DOWN,
I’M SO HAPPY AND QUICKLY TURN HER MOOD AROUND

I AM FOREVER GRATEFUL FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART…
IF IT WEREN’T FOR YOU I MAY HAVE NEVER GOTTEN A FRESH START,
MAYBE YOU KNEW, IN MY MOMS LIFE I’D BE NEEDED
AND PLAY A BIG PART

I CAN ONLY IMAGINE HOW DIFFICULT RUNNING A RESCUE MUST BE
BUT YOU HAVE SO MANY SUCCESS STORIES I SEE… JUST LIKE ME

HUBBARDS HOUNDS, YOU’RE ANGELS FROM ABOVE,
IF IT WEREN’T FOR YOU ALL, I MAY HAVE NEVER KNOWN LOVE

SO IN THE TRUE SPIRIT OF THIS HOLIDAY,
I JUST WANT TO SAY…
I HOPE THIS BRIGHTENS YOUR VALENTINE’S DAY!

SMOOCHES,
