About Hubbard's Hounds
Hubbards Hounds Dog Rescue, Inc. was founded in March of
2008 by Kimberly and Susan Hubbard. Kim and Sue both started
out by fostering with other rescues for a couple years, but both
rescues were based in other states. They decided they wanted to
begin their own rescue right here in Upstate NY to help the dogs
that so desperately need help in this area.
Hubbards Hounds Dog Rescue, Inc. is a 501 (c)(3) non profit
organization and all donations are tax exempt! Please go to the
donation page and do your part to help the dogs today!

Giving dogs a second chance at life... One dog at a time!

Once I was a lonely dog,
just looking for a home.
I had no place to go,
no one to call my own.
I wandered up and down the streets,
in rain in heat and snow.
I ate what ever I could find;
I was always on the go.
My skin would itch, my feet were sore, my body ached with pain.
And no one stopped to give a pat, or to gently say my name.
I never saw a loving glance; I was always on the run.
For people thought that hurting me was really lots of fun.
And then one day I heard a voice, so gentle, kind and sweet.
And arms so soft reached down to me and took me off my feet.
"No one again will hurt you," was whispered in my ear.
"You'll have a home to call your own where you will know no fear.
You will be dry, you will be warm, you'll have enough to eat.
And rest assured that when you sleep, your dreams will all be sweet."
I was afraid I must admit I've lived so long in fear.
I can't remember when I let a human come so near.
And as she tended to my wounds, and bathed and brushed my fur.
She told me bout the rescue group and what it meant to her.
She said, "We are a circle, a line that never ends,
And in the center there is you protected by new friends.
And all around you are the ones that check the pounds,
And those that share their home after you've been found.
And all the other folk are searching near and far.
To find the perfect home for you, where you can be a star."
She said, "There is a family, that's waiting patiently,
And pretty soon we'll find them, just you wait and see.
And then they'll join our circle; they'll help to make it grow,
So there'll be room for more like you who have no place to go."
I waited patiently. The days they came and went.
Today's the day I thought, my family will be sent.
Then just when I began to think, it wasn't meant to be,
There were people standing there just gazing down at me.
I knew them in a heartbeat. I could tell they felt it too.
They said, "We have been waiting for a special dog like you."
Now every night I say a prayer to all the gods that be,
"Thank you for the life I live and all you've given me.
But, most of all protect the dogs in the pound and on the street.
And send a Rescue Person to lift them off their feet."
LONELY DOG ...
this is WHY we DO
what we DO!
Hubbard's Hounds Philosophy
Hubbard's Hounds Dog Rescue feels that ALL dogs are worth
saving regardless of age or breed or any other factor. We have
taken in dogs that are old, weak, a tough breed, or have had a
behavioral problem or some other issue that needed to be
addressed. We do not euthanize dogs for space or sickness like
shelters do.
We have spent thousands on an older Chi to have a c-section
because she came in pregnant with 8 puppies that she couldn't
deliver and would have died without special care.
We spent thousands to fix a puppy with a PDA, a heart condition
that would have caused her death by the time she was 2.
Many shelters would not have spent the money on these dogs,
money they don't have and neither did we.
Hubbard's Hounds is run entirely on donations from adoptions,
donations received from our website from the generosity of the
public, or from fundraisers. The only other money we receive
comes from Sue or Kim who often have to contribute to keep the
rescue going. We get no government assistance so public
support and adoptions are very important.
Hubbards Hounds rescues dogs from puppy mills, kill shelters,
and we also take owner turn ins when necessary. We try to take a
mix of ages and breeds. Our younger dogs are less expensive to
vet and our older dogs become very expensive to vet. In the end,
we try to have enough money to cover our vetting bills and other
expenses which are pull fees from shelters and microchip
purchases. Most all administrative supplies are purchased by our
very dedicated volunteers.

Pearl first came to us in Nov of 2008 from a puppy mill in Lancaster,
PA. She was scared, but not as bad as some of the others. Her she
is when she first came to us (Pearl on right):
Please help us, help Pearl...
FIND PET FRIENDLY HOUSING
As families move around, they often times find that
they can't take their beloved pets with them. If that's the
case for you or someone you know, we have a great
resource for you.
"My Apartment Map" has thousands of pet friendly
apartments that allow dogs and cats, all over the USA
This useful website was created by Katie Reardon, as
she was looking for an apartment that would accept
her Jack Russell Daisy, and Beagle Jerry. As a pet
owner herself, she found it difficult to find pet friendly
apartments, and wanted to help other pet owners find
a home quick and easy.
Please check out this website and share this link with

But just recently, Pearl came back to us with a huge
mammory tumor that had to be removed
immediately. As it was, it had been discovered
months ago, but not taken care of and we learned it
is an aggressive form of cancer. Please help us to
help Pearl, by clicking on the CHIP IN link (above)
and donating???
She was adopted in 2009. She had become a friendly
girl and absolutely beautiful (below)
Pearl is scheduled for a complete mastectomy which is VERY
invassive and painful, but her only real hope to survive. She will have
surgery at the end of January once she is healed up from her tumor
removal. This is going to be a costly procedure, but necessary to
hopefully save her life. She is a sweet girl and if she hadn't been bred
over and over at the puppy mill, she would not be in this position.
Mammory tumors on any dog need to be taken care of immediately
which Pearl's was not. Now she will need to undergo this next surgery!
Please chip in if you can. If you would rather donate directly to the vet for
Pearl's surgery, please call Crossroads Veterinary Clinic at
607-756-4240 and pay on the Hubbards Hounds account. Thank you
for any support!
